So Deirdre is a libertarian amongst other things. And her book ‘Why Economics Can’t Explain the Modern World’ just says it all. In my opinion she is part of the problem. Ideas do not create wealth for everyone, they only create wealth for the stake holders. Wealth is created by the appreciation of assets. And therefore ideas must take wealth from someone else. For example, when Ford comes out with a better truck they win and the rest of the industry loses. Now ideas do increase asset values for shareholders but that is an indirect creation of wealth. The iPhone for example as an idea, killed the camera business, the film business, the video recorder business, the tape recorder/player on and on and on, the list of losers is staggering.

It sounds like you would get a kick out of my book. I will send you a paper back. It’s gotten great reviews and if you like economics you will truly enjoy it. If if you are interested send me your address to: jarljensensocial@gmail.com
